Hooke's Law
According to this law, The stress proposed on a body is directly proportional to the Strain.
i.e, Strain ∝ Stress
Stress = Constant × Strain
or Constant = Stress
Strain
Thus, Modulus Of Elasticity is defined as the ratio of the stress to the strain.
Please Note:
- Modulus of elasticity depends on the nature of the material of the body.
- Modulus of elasticity is independent of dimensions
- Dimensional Formula of Modulus of Elasticity is same as that of the stress or pressure (ML⁻¹T⁻²)
