Couple:
When two equal and opposite forces act on a body but have different lines of action, they are said to form a couple.
When a couple acts on a body, the body is in Translational Equilibrium but not in Rotational Equilibrium, thus a couple Rotates
a body.
Everyday Examples of couple:
- A tap is opened or closed when our fingers apply a couple on it.
- The lid of a bottle is also opened and closed when our fingers apply a couple on it.
- A driver applies a couple with his hands on a steering wheel to turn the wheels of the vehicles.
